Carbon Fiber Bent Shaft Paddle

I just finished my Bear Mountain C-1 Marathon racing cedar strip canoe. I finished off most of the inside of the canoe with carbon fiber. I have several Carbon Fiber bent shaft paddles from numerious dealers. I'd like to make my own.
Has any one out there tried this. Was wondering if I could use my factory bent paddle as a mold. I know how to do the carbon fiber shaft and handle. Would like input on the paddle part. I don't want to rip my factory paddle apart to see what the layup is on the paddle. I was told that they use a form insert and lay the Carbon Fiber and epoxy over that. Any advice would be great!!!! I'm a firm believer in what you make is what you ride ( or race). Would be awesome on my next race,to line up with the factory racing canoe's and take them head-on with my cedar striper C-1,and hand made Carbon fiber bent shaft,and take it to them!!!!

I have also been thinking of making my own carbon paddles. I have Zaverals now. For handmade paddles, so far I've been working on Greenland Kayak paddles and have good luck with them.
I'd be interested in hearing about your bent shaft cabon fiber project.

Duane Strosaker has made carbon fiber blades on wood shaft (wide, curve blade) and total carbon Greenland kayak paddles. His sites might give you some ideas.

Hey, how's it going Glen? So far all of my paddle buidling has been in wood. I am thinking of bringing home some composite materials soon though and start working on some molds.
